It is my hope that this page will be interesting and useful to just about anyone, whether you're a cyclist, a traveler, a techno-freak, photographer, an armchair adventurer or just surfing the web. Fundamentally, this site is designed to be a sort of "online travel diary." I will be maintaining my travel journal while on the road, and occasionally (as regularly as possible) emailing updates home, to be posted to the site. I will also be mailing home pictures, which will be scanned in and placed on the site. (The pictures, of course, will take a bit longer to arrive than the journal updates, as they will be sent via snail-mail.)
It is also my intent to provide information. While I do not intend this to be a full-service travel guide, I will do my best to provide information such as tips for first-time travelers, tips for first-time cycle-tourists, equipment reviews, etc. My journal updates will not be drawn-out descriptions of my navel lint; I have long been an amateur writer and journalist, and I will do my best to provide interesting reports on the places I visit: people, politics, culture, festivals, food, you name it.
Finally, it is my hope to gain some financial backing for my trip through this website. I envision (perhaps dream? I hope it's more than that) obtaining sponsorship from some of the companies whose equipment I use, or perhaps for the site to gain enough popularity to attract advertisers. I am currently financing the trip out of my own bank account, and while I am fairly good at traveling cheaply, that money won't last forever.
