Harpur Inn B&B
(I don't know the address or phone number, as I got my directions from some guy at the train station.)
If you're looking for hostel accomodation in Drogheda, the Harpur Inn is the only act in town. You've got your choice of B&B or hostel-style accomodation, with a simple hostel bed running £7. There's no curfew, but find out where the lights are before it gets dark; I failed to locate the kitchen light, so I just ate my dinner (from a local chipper) in my room. There's a television in the hostel room, but if you ask me, that's not necessarily a good thing. There's only one shower (Two bathrooms, but one of the toilets didn't work. I didn't try the bathtub.), and the ceiling above it looks as if it's about to fall in. The heater turned off sometime in the middle of the night, so I woke up cold. The shower was free and always hot (though the electric flash-heater was the most inconsistent I have ever seen, alternately scalding and freezing me), but this morning I did't bother to try to squeeze in between the other guests.
For £7, it's a decent deal (and like I said, it's the only deal in town), but it's definitely not the best place I've every stayed. The folks who run the place are friendly enough, though, and one woman even took my clothes to her room to dry them over her heater, as I came in soaking wet from a day of cycling in the rain. If there were another hostel in town, I'd consider it before the Harpur house, but I wouldn't even think about paying for another B&B or hotel when the Harpur house is an option.
