The Galway Hostel
(Sorry, I failed to get their contact info. All I know is it's right near the train station and it's just called "The Galway Hostel.")
As I was cycling towards Galway, a fellow who lives there cycled up beside me and told me that I really ought to go to the hostel near the train station. What he didn't tell me is that there are two hostels near the train station. I didn't know this, however, until the day I left The Galway Hostel.
This hostel is a bit expensive (£8), the showers are only warm for a few hours/day (no temperature control), and the kitchen closes from noon to four and from midnight until six. The kitchen hours irritated me most, since there are no commons room other than the kitchen, which means that after midnight, you have virtually no choice but to either go out or go to bed. Other than that, it was an okay place. The staff were all very accomodating, and when I said that I just wanted to write for a while, they went ahead and let me sit in the kitchen by myself.
I don't know if I'd jump to stay here again, especially for £8, but it's an okay place. At least the beds and rooms are clean.
